Google workspace is the new brand identity of G Suite.Â
The renaming brings several improvements. Google decided to do it thanks to a recent focus on application integrity, forming a new workspace. This is not only a benefit for users, but also presents several competitive advantages over Microsoft, its main competitor.
As we have been sharing in recent months, from the point of view of applications: the change is focused on productivity and time savings. It integrates the most used apps to facilitate teamwork from a single place. It allows to join teams, tasks, documents and soon videoconferences.
To optimize time, Google introduces a new integrated workplace. Being aware that one of the most used apps in this context is Google Meet, Google did not lag behind user-requested updates in Google Meet.
What else does this change mean?
A new document experience (Docs, Slides, Sheets)
- Create and edit documents in rooms: edit documents from a chat room without having to switch tabs. This allows easy editing with people outside the organization.
- Suggestions in mentions: when mentioning a user, Google will automatically suggest actions to perform. For example, assign a task, share a document, or send an email.
- Link preview: for links that users add to their files, it will no longer be necessary to click to see their content.
- Meet's Picture-in-picture: allows you to collaborate with your team on documents, while viewing and listening to them in the same tab.
