Protecting your organization's most sensitive data and resources is a constant challenge. G Suite helps protect your data in a variety of ways: it uses machine learning to prevent attacks through advanced phishing detection, requires strong authentication through mandatory security keys, and prevents data leakage with tools such as PPD.
Today, we added another security feature that improves data access control and increases phishing prevention: whitelisting of OAuth applications. This feature gives your organization greater control and visibility into how your data is used by third-party applications.
New access controls for third-party applications
Whitelisting OAuth applications helps protect your data by allowing administrators to select which specific third-party applications can access users' G Suite data. Once an application is whitelisted, users can choose to grant authorized access to their G Suite application data. This prevents malicious applications from tricking users into mistakenly granting access to their business data.
With these new security controls, administrators can perform the following actions:
1. Have detailed visibility into third-party applications accessing G Suite data.

2. Allow access only to trusted and approved third-party OAuth applications.
 3. Prevent the installation of unauthorized applications, which protects OAuth access to data in core G Suite applications and limits problems caused by shadow IT.
Once the OAuth whitelisting configuration is applied, access to third-party applications is enforced based on the policy set by administrators. This means that employees are automatically protected against unauthorized applications.

This feature will be implemented in phases and will be available in the Administrator Console in the coming days. For instructions on how to get started, click here.
