Automatic labeling of incoming messages with filters

Manage incoming messages automatically with Gmail filters.

Examples

  • Automatically apply tags to classify incoming messages, such as customer feedback or project-related messages.
  • Getting rid of messages that are not needed at the moment, such as forum posts or newsletters. Let Gmail take care of automatic archiving so you can keep your inbox clean and then read them later.

Automatically tag and sort incoming messages

In the Gmail search box, click on the down arrow: more options.
Enter your search criteria, then click Create a filter with this search.
Check Apply label and choose a label to automatically sort incoming messages using your search criteria.
If I want to search for messages with a search criteria without being automatically moved out of the inbox, but I want to access them later, check Skip Inbox (Archive it) .
Click on Create filter.
