Regardless of the size of the organization, protecting confidential files, emails and data is crucial. When security best practices are applied, communication flows and the business grows.

What's new in Google Workspace?

Limiting external messages in Google Chat

Previously, you could only choose to allow external chat or not. Now you can choose to limit external chat to people with domains trusted by the organization or set different policies for different UO. This way, external chats can only be conducted with domains that the company trusts.

Administrators have more precise control over external chat in their organization. This allows the right users to communicate with the stakeholders they need to work with, while helping to prevent inappropriate or unwanted external chat. .

Available for all Google Workspace versions and G Suite Basic and Business clients.

Additional details: Trusted domains can only communicate with domain-managed accounts in those domains. Personal accounts verified by email will not be considered trusted.

Plus: GIF files can now also be shared in Google Chat. Thanks to the new integration with Tenor, users will be able to quickly search for and send GIFs in the web version of Google Chat. Administrators can enable or disable this GIF integration in the Administrator Console.

Malicious software alert in post-delivery mail

The Google Workspace Alert Center (in the Administrator Console) allows you to set up automatic alerts. For example, alerts on some of the most important security concerns such as warnings about accounts, phishing, malware, and device management.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
One of the automatic reports may indicate that a virus was detected in an incoming mail after it had been delivered to the inbox. Messages affected by malware that are detected after delivery and have not been opened will be re-sorted and automatically removed from the user's inbox. If the recipient has opened or interacted with these messages, they will remain in the inbox until manually removed. It is recommended that any messages affected by malware that have been opened be removed from users' inboxes as soon as possible.⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
The Alert Information page includes these sections:⠀⠀.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
  • Summary: summary of the alert, including the number of messages affected by malware and the number of recipients, among other data.
  • Date: date and time of the event
  • Sender: user name of the sender
  • Total number of message delivery events
  • Received by: number of recipients and their user names

User and group administration: inspect groups function

With the new update you will be able to check the indirect and direct group membership of users. From the administrator console you will be able to:

  • Consult indirect and direct members of a group: allows you to consult an enlarged view of all memberships in a group.
  • Verify membership: allows you to validate whether a user belongs to a specific group.
  • Show all groups of a member: view a list of all groups a user belongs to, the email addresses associated with the group and the type of relationship (indirect, direct or both).

Administrators will have a clear understanding of their organization's user group structures, all in one place to facilitate related actions.
